"Vinum regum, rex vinorum" -
The wine of kings and the king of wines. So said
no less an authority than Louis XIV, The Sun King.
Unfortunately, during much of the last century,
the vineyards of Tokay were decimated by disease,
war and collectivization. Today, unless a person
is very old, or very lucky, he has probably never
experienced the joys of a true Tokay.
Until
now. A sip of our unique varietal, award winning
Tokay and the lucky recipient will be in total
agreement with the Sun King. From the deep, golden-colored
nectar in the glass rises a haunting, delicate
fragrance. The palate rejoices in the smooth, velvety
texture, the delicate, sweet fruit flavor, without
the slightest hint of acidity or "bite". A long
lingering but delicate aftertaste of caramel, honey
and walnuts crowns the experience. Best served
slightly chilled. Wonderful right now. However,
because of the high sugar content, can be put down
for decades. Even an opened bottle can be stored
for a long time. |
